First of all I want to thank all my new subscribers for joining me into this journey through Italy’s culture, art and food. Today I’m gonna share with you the recipe for preparing a perfetto tiramisù, one of our most iconic and representative desserts. Its origins are still uncertain, but historical records state that it was originated in Treviso in the nineteenth century. Legend says that it was invented by a clever maitresse of a brothel in the centre of Treviso who made this aphrodisiac dessert to reinvigorate her customers. Nowadays tiramisù is prepared all over Italy, becoming the most famous Italian dessert abroad. For me tiramisù is inextricably linked to the memory of never ending Sunday family lunches. Lunches that finished no earlier than 3 pm and that, most of the time, ended with a tiramisù. Tiramisù was also the first dessert that I ever prepared. To be honest that first attempt was a complete disaster. Over the years it got better and today it has become one of the highlights of all the dinners that I organize for family and friends at home.
As you will see, tiramisù is very easy to prepare, you just got to learn a couple of tricks.
